Well needless to say I had a long 2 months training to be a Semi truck driver. I did a 3 week classroom course in Dallas Texas, with driving course and inner city driving training, and then a 5 week of one on one training with a trainer all across the United States, (The lower 48. My trainer and I drove a total of approx 20,000 miles in this 5 week period, with myself driving about 10,000 miles. There was only 20 states I did not make it in to in this time. The company that has been training me is Stevens Transport, all refrigerated hauling, Food in general.
One Ironic thing that happened in this is that WRECKERMAN was also being trained by a company called SWIFT Transport, another Trucking company at the exact same time. Unfortunately WRECKERMAN and I where never able to meet up, I was either chasing him down an Interstate or Vice Versa, I was going east when He was going south. Anyhow he ended up Stopping 3/4 the way through and getting a regional Driving job in California, his home state and I will continue back to Dallas This Saturday to start a 3 day Orientation class fallowed by a final 3 week Over the Road training session. (Basically to insure I can handle a Big Rig by myself). After that I will be issued my own truck.
In this day and age in the States with this terrible economy, Truck driving is a guaranteed job when so many struggle to survive. Like they say Trucking is the backbone for America, everything everybody has in their Fridge and in their house was at one point on a Semi truck.
Thank you CFC for keeping me on their pilots list, I really miss flying but I guess I'll be stuck on the ground rolling instead. Take care, your out of work pilot OUTLAW805 a.k.a Steve.
