Title: Real World Aviation Pictures
Post by: TOM130 on June 21, 2011, 20:19:09
Hi Glenn,

thanks a lot.  :)

Thats a great idea of a spotters corner!      Really nice pics.  ;pty2

I came to Finland to meet this great guy and I am still in a hotel there suffering that they have daylight at night.

OK, I have found a way to upload a video and pic which is not blocked by my company.

Sorry for my abscence. I am quite busy at work, my graphic card crashed and hopefully I will receive a new one soon. But the next weeks I am almost the whole time on travel.

In Frankfurt they have a new tower and the controllers have to get used to the new software. Every flight there has delay. Today a friend flow back earlier and had a delay of 3 hours in total. Finally they had to go around in Frankfurt because an aircraft standing around on the runway in Frankfurt, without a warning....  :o  (reminds to FSX )

Tomorrow I will have my flight back, and additionally I will heavy thunderstorms. I am quite sure to make a good video...  8)  (reminds me also to FSX...)

Lufthansa, A320-200, no idea which tail number. Runway 25R, Deparutre Route Rollis... I assume, could not ask.

Traffic Alert??

Video will follow, I am afraid I loose the connection...

Today an heavy thunderstorm has passed Frankfurt to the east. We were flying throught it.

The captain announced it, the stewardess was in the cockpit and checked nervously after if everbody is secured.

It was my first time and I wondered that at FL350 it can become really black outside.

As it became really heavy the stewardess made an announcement:

'The barf bag you will  .....AAARRRRRRRRGGGGG........ (plane was shot around heavily)   under the seat infront of you!'

It was a shame for me, I was laughing and nobody else.

The video is later, but you can see the water in Frankfurt.

Frankfurt - Götheborg und back

From the flight back I don't have pictures, it was an old MD-82 (SAS) and the windwos were dirty and totally scratched. Only the pilot was older, maybe 60, but flying better as every autopilot.

On the original picture with zoom you can see on the right seat a young, awesome lady...  ;D

The taxiway was damaged and shortyl after this pic the aircrafts had to drive around over the parking area.

Boeing 737-500 D-ABIC (the same machine like on my flight through the thunderstorm one week before)

In the rental car on the way back to the airport Götheborg Landvetter, the navigation 'dummdumm' (German for stupidstupid) lead me to the wrong airport 'Götheborg City Airport'.
I was suprised, the 'TNCM' in Sweden!!

Some sites are warning that spotting there could become dangerous.  ???

Hej Chas,

despite the milky glass, the Antonov is great!   ;pty2   (I am still hoping to see one in real)

Regarding Emirates, I have a link. Only one aircraft type in the world has the allowance to fly through the centre of thunder cells, but sometimes
it can happen that an aircraft passes one:

Hello Tom,

---> despite the milky glass, the Antonov is great!

I have already instructed Air Berlin to clean their aircraft-windows more often... Took the picture when we were on the runway already ...

Hey Chas,
Quick question... Is there any special trick you use to make the pictures look as real as it is? or do you own a super computer that makes it look like it does? Im just jealous by the fact that I am like the only guy with the worst graphics.  :( Any advice?

I am  always excited how you are able to produce these smashing liveries.

I am sorry Chas but this isnt done by my self, its only a example for editing FS pics to make them look like real.

I can tell the Caravan on floats is definately a business airplane and not a working airplane.  We have Caravans but the nice flooring has been pulled out and replaced with plywood and the interiors are banged up from carrying drill steel, drums, lumber, you name it not pretty airplanes but they work.  It was also interesting to see people pumping cold air into the airplane, we do the opposite in winter (not many people want to get in an unheated airplane at -40).

Hi,

this picture is of a friend, fsx pilot, ATC-in-training real aviation and spotter.

He is making really good pictures and screenshots. I have asked him to post it at SSF, he was not really happy about it, slightly nerved.     ;D

LOT, the airline landing without gear, from Poland.

He made shots from the new runway in Frankfurt.

After a while he had a more close look to the pictures and found this:

Hi,

today I was at the new runway 07L/25R in Frankfurt EDDF. Nice weather, but a cold wind from East.

My camera got another time problems with this temperatures, apologize the stripes, and I was freezing, apologize the wiggly pics.

They have made a really nice place for spotters, you stand a little bit above and don't need a ladder, one fence.

But not easy to find, my GPS has the new runway, google maps not.

Not like in the update from Aerosoft for Megaairport Frankfurt, the real one has two bridges over the motorway.   ::)

Hi,

here is the video from my flight to EGLC London City Airport, and back to Frankfurt.

Apologize the milky window glass, it was the deicer in Frankfurt, sticky material. The aircraft was an Embraer 170 British Airways, covered in EDDF with snow.

EGLC has an amazing ILS approach angle of 5°. The aircraft was landing with the speed brakes out.

The picture with the ship is from the docks in Tilbury.
